You are here

Short story: In The Night

You creep, insidiously, as I sleep, carried like algal bloom on a polluted tired tide.

I know the rules, and you endeavor to break every one, in your quest for my soul.

Love, destined for greatness, shattered again and again by each spiky promise, each angry fist.

Rudimentary lessons, so simple, lock the windows, bar the doors, don't breath.

Darling, I'm back, again, to watch you sleep.

This is the result of a fifteen minute writing exercise. The only constrictions were the time limit and five randomly selected words from the dictionary. Today the words were: greatness, rudimentary, endeavor, darling, and bloom.
