Short story: In The Garden Shed

Imitation vanilla essence;
gun powder, thingumies and lint.
Stir it around in the basin,
and add several good sprigs of mint.

Mother said not to play in the toolshed,
but I simply cannot help myself.
I do like to make magic mixtures,
and pull down the glue from the shelf.

I love sticking my fingers together,
using masses of strong super glue,
and then running and telling my mother I'm stuck
even though that's a mean thing to do.

Sometimes she grabs for the solvent,
and unsticks my hands straight away,
but sometimes she faints right down on the floor
and I have painful hands for the day.

I like to pretend I'm a carnival seal
with little and clappy webbed hands.
I bark and I caper around with a ball
And wish seals could open their sardine cans.

This is the result of a fifteen minute writing exercise. The only constrictions were the time limit and five randomly selected words from the dictionary. Today the words were: imitation, powder, solvent, thingumies, and painful.
