Short story: Empty Room

Behind the expensive oak paneling, a dazzle of diamonds taut with anticipation lay in wait.

A glass of wine watches the Gauguin reproduction swinging from the wall, the mouth of the safe remaining tight-lipped.

A pair of high-heeled shoes lie jagged the floor, a duo of thickset black eye glasses webbed beneath them.

The smirking, life-savvy lips of a photo-couple make kisses at the ceiling from their overbalanced frame.

A scream rends the climate-controlled air.

The oak paneling longs for untenanted peace.

This is the result of a fifteen minute writing exercise. The only constrictions were the time limit and five randomly selected words from the dictionary. Today the words were: paneling, savvy, dazzle, thickset, and untenanted.
