John Grisham cracked the legal thriller market with his smash hit second novel, The Firm, in 1991. He has written many other novels, and before becoming a full time writer he worked as a lawyer and was involved in politics.

A disappointing and not overly enthusiastic delve into a relationship between a father and two sons... the struggles, sadness, selfishness, and attempts to do what's right.

A Time To Kill is the first novel of John Grisham, written in 1989. And it’s not half bad, if you’re into that kind of thing.

A Painted House is the story of cotton farming, baseball, family secrets, poverty, and growing up in Arkansas in the 1950s. A bit of a deviation from your standard John Grisham, but I’m not complaining.

Perhaps having read Patriot Games recently has given me a certain intestinal fortitude/high tolerance for pulp. Whatever the case, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn’t hate The Firm anywhere near as much as I thought I would. Not that I’m advocating the reading of John Grisham as such, but it really wasn’t as bad as all that.
